Yoplait Greek yogurt review and giveaway

From bras to yogurt . . .

I have another great giveaway for you! This one is for Yoplait Greek yogurt.

Yoplait is running a "Nourish Your Inner Goddess" promotion right now to promote their new Greek yogurt. According to Yoplait:

"To celebrate its new Greek yogurt and to encourage women to nourish their inner goddess, Yoplait has teamed up with actress Izabella Miko, who plays Greek Goddess Athena in Warner Bros. Pictures´ and Legendary Pictures´ film new epic feature film "Clash of the Titans," which launched in theatres on April 2 in 3D."

I was contacted to try out the new yogurt and was sent coupons for two free containers of yogurt AND a spa package containing a robe, slippers, loofah, body brush and other goodies to turn my bath spa-like.

Here's what I received:

Well, I got coupons, not the actual yogurt. But! As soon as I received my coupons, I headed out to pick up my free yogurt and check it out.

I bought one container of plain and one honey vanilla:Now, let me say straight out that I am a HUGE yogurt fan. I eat it every single day. Sometimes twice. I'm like an addict. And Greek yogurt, while maybe a little sour to some, is right up my alley. So, I went into my taste test expecting to like it, because that's what I do. I like yogurt.

And, yeah, I liked this stuff too. My son gobbled up the honey vanilla yogurt and hardly left any for me. It was delicious. I'm new to the whole honey yogurt thing but it really is tasty. My son, who loves both yogurt and honey, thinks that it is just about the best thing going.

The plain was good, too. I'm much more inclined to buy plain yogurt, because I mix it in smoothies and tend to use it in recipes in place of mayo, sour cream, etc. The Yoplait plain Greek yogurt was nice and thick and creamy. One thing that always amazes me about Greek yogurt is how creamy it is, since it contains no fat. Definitely a bonus!

A 6oz container of the plain yogurt contains 100 calories, no fat, 10g carbs and 14g protein. It also has 35% of the RDA of calcium and 20% of the RDA of vitamin D. All good stuff in my book.

To buy:

You can purchase Yoplait Greek yogurt in most grocery stores (my Hannaford and Price Chopper both carry it). You can download a coupon for $.30 off one container here.

To win:

I have a "Nourish Your Inner Goddess" pack for one lucky reader! The giveaway is exactly the same as the package I received: Two coupons for free yogurt and the spa gift set (robe, slippers, loofah, etc., etc.). Who DOESN'T want to lounge in Greek-goddess style?

(And, um, guys? Great gift potential here . . . )

So, to enter, leave me a comment telling me which flavor of Yoplait Greek yogurt you'd most like to try.

As always, you can gain a few additional entries

Kalyx Sports Bra review and giveaway

I have to admit that I've never paid too too much attention to my running bras. I've been wearing the same style (some Moving Comfort, some Brooks, some Champion) pull-over compression bra for years. In fact, some of the bras were purchased way back in the 90s. And they still work. For the most part.

Anyway, the trusty S/M pull-overs have always worked well for my size Bs. No worries.

With every week of this pregnancy, however, the size Bs grow a tad larger. Tads, as you may know, can quickly become scads and I knew it was only a matter of time before I would need to invest in some larger running bras.

So I entered a contest and was lucky to win a Kalyx sports bra from Setting You Free. I was psyched. To add to my psyched-ness, Ashley at Kalyx asked me if I would be interested in reviewing my bra and offering one to my readers for a giveaway. Well, sure!

Which leads us to today when I have a chance for you to win a free bra! But first, my review.

I checked out the Kalyx web site and read about the different bras that they offer. They offer a wide range of styles for a variety of activities and body types. I decided to go with a stylish one that seemed to match my needs: The Stayput (I ordered the teal, which is pictured on the site). It looks like this:

No, that is not me although, I wouldn't mind having her arms and trim little mid-section.

When the Stayput arrived, I was unsure of my choice. I've never worn a sports bra with a back closure, nor have I ever worn one with thin double straps. Would there be too much bounce? What about chafing? Bra chafing rots and I sure didn't want any of that.

Well, there was no chafing. Nor was there any bounce. The Stayput (I ordered a large to contain the no-longer Bs) helped things, well, stay put. I've worn the bra on several runs so far and it has been through the wash five or six times -- it's still good as new (as you'd expect from any quality bra) and I have only had good experiences wearing it.

One of the features that worried me at first was the back closure but I actually really like it. What I like most about the back closure is that it will allow this bra to last longer. Right now, I'm using the second set of hooks-and-eyes. As I get larger, I'll be able to expand the bra so I'll have more room. After I give birth, I hope I'll be able to get some use out of the bra by going to the tightest setting. We'll see.

All I know is that I needed a new larger bra that would offer plenty of support during these pregnant running months. I've found that bra in my Kalyx Stayput.

I've also found a neat company. Each of the Kalyx bras are made from 35% recycled fibers using K-Force Eco-Loving Fabric. It is a surprisingly soft fabric that also does a good job wicking away the sweat. And, Kalyx was founded by a woman who wanted to created better sports bras for women. So, she's dedicated to making sure they really fit, really support and really work.

Keep up the good work, Kalyx!

To buy:

The Stayput is $44.00 and you can order directly it from the Kalyx web site. Lucky you! Kalyx is offering readers a 20% discount on bras using the code Happy20. So, don't wait: Treat yourself!

To win:

Yay for the giveaway!

You can win a Kalyx bra of your choice by visiting their web site and leaving a comment telling me which bra you would like.

KD Energy review

If you are looking for a new and different energy snack to power you through your runs (or your daily go-go-go), I've found the thing for you: KD Energy thoroughly pure energy bites. Never mind that they are made locally (go, Capital District!), these bites are pure yum.

Created by four Skidmore College students, the energy bites are all-natural, vegan, and gluten-free. You can learn about the ingredients here. I love that KD Energy is a small (really small!) business because I'm all about supporting small businesses, especially local ones. But that support can only go so far. The company has to produce a quality product and this one does.

I tried all four flavors: ChocoNut, LemonZest, PB&J and Mint Chip. My favorite flavor is ChocoNut and my least would have to be the LemonZest. The energy bites are hearty and easily digestible at the same time. I'm finding that I need to eat smaller amount of food more frequently these days, especially prior to running, and these bites are a good way to boost my energy without weighing me down.

It makes sense that the bites would serve their purpose well because, according to Katie, one of the partners that I emailed with, they were developed when she was training for a marathon. She was looking for a different sort of fuel to take with her on her longs so she created these bites. I'm glad she did!

Those of you who don't live in upstate New York won't be able to find the energy bites in stores -- yet. Fortunately, the bites are sold online at the KD Energy web site. They come in 1.7 ounce packages (that are eco-friendly -- made from "NatureWorks® Ingeo™ biopolymer, a polylactic acid (PLA) resin derived entirely from plants instead of oil") and are sold in 6-packs for $10.99 and 12-packs for $20.99.

The energy bites get a definite thumbs-up! Good luck, KD Energy. I hope you have continued success!

Review disclaimer: I received free samples of the KD Energy bites. I was not compensated for this review and the opinions expressed are entirely my own.
