Jakfish review and giveaway

During my first pregnancy, I relied baggy shorts and regular maternity t-shirts for my workout attire. I walked, practiced yoga and worked out with the Kathy Smith videos in less than flattering outfits, for sure.

This time around, I was fortunate to have some maternity active wear to try out, courtesy of Jakfish. Jakfish is a relatively new company that makes "performance clothing for active pregnant women." They're a small operation located in Vermont and you can learn more about them here.
Steph from Jakfish sent me an Adina tank and a Zander skort to try out. I've worn them both on several runs and walks and I give them a big thumbs up! Both are made from Polartec Power Stretch material that is light, wicking and comfortable. I'm especially fond of the skort. The shorts under the skirt are longer than most of the shorts under running skirts and they don't ride up one bit. Not at all. I have another running skirt that I really like as well, but the under shorts never stay put. To me, that's a drag.

I've worn the skort with the band below my belly and pulled up on it and it is comfortable both ways. The fit is excellent and it is even flattering -- a huge plus in maternity wear!

As for the Adina tank, I have only good things to say. The length fully covers my bulging bump and the overall fit is flattering as well. It hugs my belly, but isn't tight. And, best of all, it doesn't flair out at the bottom the way some maternity tanks do. I don't know about you but that whole tent look just isn't for me.

The giveaway!

If you are pregnant, thinking about pregnancy sometime in the future, or you know a preggo that you'd like to hook up, this giveaway is for you! One lucky reader will win an Adina tank (we can be twins!) and a pair of the Quinn capris.

  2. After looking at Jakfish's website, I just love it! I plan on getting pregnant early next year, and their clothes will be perfect to stay active while pregnant, but still look good!

  8. I have so many preggo friends right now, I would love to win something for someone!

I scoped out the website and I'm thinking the Ryan pants look super comfy for working otu or plain old lounging!

  9. I was so excited to learn that they exist! I plan on running throughout my entire pregnancy (fingers crossed) and I'm already getting uncomfortable in my usual workout gear. I drooled over almost everything they have.

  10. Hi! I like them on FB, am a follower of your The Happy Runner blog, like The Happy Runner on FB, and went to the Jakfish site and learned that I really really must have some of their pregnancy active wear for my pregnancy! I'm 17 weeks along and while I can still wear my pre-pregnancy running clothes they are not necessarily soo fashionable or comfortable at this point! I love that their tops are long enough to extend over my growing belly :o) Oh and I love that the name of her company comes from a song her kids like and that it is all about being fun and playful!

    I already follow your blog!
I am 27 weeks pregnant and running a fewer miles a week, but don't have anything comfy to wear, so this would be awesome!

I looked around their website and love that they are made in Vermont - it's local to me, I live in Maine!

  18. I am 17 weeks pregnant and run mile or two in the mornings. It is little too hot in AZ to run any further without getting up way early. I would love one of those zander skorts. It looks very comfy and would keep me nice and cool:)

  27. I love Stephanie's clothing line, it's such a great idea because you really don't find active wear for pregnant women out in the stores! I visited the site and learned that she use to pick up cigarette butts in the parking lot when she was a kid, hehe :) but now she owns a company that won the Polartec® APEX award in 2008!

  28. Love that there are great maternity active wear options now! What a treat! Also it cracks me up that she named the company after a song...I think anyone with kids understands that relief that comes when there is a song on a kids' cd that is tolerable! lol
